Cool curves

This photo I took during a visit to the city of Leeuwarden 6 or 7 years ago. I was walking to my destination and as always had my camera with me, saw this and took a snap. That evening I was processing the photo’s of the day and I liked this one. Uploaded it to my Flickr and 500px accounts and got a few reactions.

Much later I added this photo to my licensed photos that are sold through Getty Images. And much to my surprise it is one of my most popular photo’s, outselling most of my portfolio. Except maybe for the swanlake and the curved fence (later more on that).

I was curious to see why this photo and how it was used. So I started at the source, Getty:

When doing a search on the main Getty Images site for Architecture, 4.8M+ results are returned and Cool Curves is the 5th most popular. Now it starts making sense. So I started looking on which sites it was used:

PWC.com is using it on multiple articles in different regions, this is one in Albania.

Zen3, a IT company is using it in their brochure.

But also Dell is using it in their advertisements. Here are some other examples I found below. In the future I will look at one of my other popular photos and see where they ended up.
