This is a retrospect of my year in photography, month by month, a quarter year per page. The first month started with a big change in my photography so the year started very interesting. For every month I chose a few photographs that were representative for that month, some months I was much more productive then others but I stayed active during the whole year.

Januari 2012

Januari started with a big change. I made the transition from a DSLR to a mirrorless system (which started the year before with the purchase of the Fuji FinePix X100). I read a lot about the Sony α NEX-7 and was very intrigued by it. But it was nowhere in stock because of the production problems by the floods in Asia. But at the start of the new year I saw that my camerastore had 1 Sony α NEX-7 in stock so I doubted for a little while and thought about 2011. In the middle of 2011 I bought a small camera besides my Canon EOS 7D + L lenses, the Fuji FinePix X100. And the second half of 2011 I almost only used the X100. So the NEX-7 was tempting, because it was small, had great image quality and interchangeable lenses. So I traded in the Canon gear and bought the NEX-7 with a few lenses.

February

This was a very active month for me in photography, I was used to and got to know the NEX-7 and was very inspired again (I was a bit less inspired at the end of 2011).

This month I also took the Icy Swan Lake photo, which is one of my most popular photos (on Flickr and 500px combined: 20.000 views, 1500 comments and 1500 favs. And I found more then 500 sites which "borrowed" this photo).

March 2012

Also in this period I joined the local photography club, fotoclub Zwolle. I continued shooting a lot with the NEX-7, also did two trips to the landschaftspark in Duisburg.

This photo is a closeup of the entrance fence of palace Het Loo. This photo is also in the Getty Image collection and is my highest grossing photo till now (too bad I only get 20% of the sale price).
